This icing took this sugar cookie to a whole new level of DELICIOUS!!
Sugar Cookie Ingredients:
-1 cup butter
-1 cup sugar
-1 ½ tea vanilla extract
-1 egg
-3 cups flour
-1 ½ tea baking powder
–¼ tea salt
Sugar Cookies Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla together until combined.
- Add egg and beat until light and fluffy, scraping the sides of the mixer as needed.
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Sift together.
- Add flour mixture to butter mixture and mix until combined.
- Place dough on a well-floured surface and roll out to ½ inch thickness. Use whatever cutout you would like. I used heart-shaped cutters this time to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
- Place cutouts onto a baking sheet and bake for 8 minutes.
- Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
Buttercream Ingredients:
-1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, softened
-¾ cups sour cream, room temperature
-5 cups confectioners sugar
-1 tea salt
Buttercream Directions:
- Combine butter, sour cream, and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer or use a hand mixer.
- When ingredients are fully mixed start adding confectioners sugar one cup at a time.
- If desired, add in a few drops of food coloring and mix until completely mixed.
- Use an offset spatula or add to icing bag with a tip and frost each cookie.
