Can you say yum? This pudding is smooth and chocolatey and doesn’t have all the additives that store-bought pudding does. If your kids love pudding, make a big batch and keep it in the fridge for them to snack on.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- ½ tea salt
- 4 cups whole milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tea vanilla extract
- ½ heavy whipping cream
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
Directions:
- In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually add in milk and whisk until combined. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Continue to stir frequently to avoid scorching the bottom. The mixture will begin to thicken as it comes to a boil. This can take about 5-10 minutes.
- Once boiling, continue to stir for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla. Pour into desired serving dishes, cover, and refrigerate until firm.
- For whipped topping, combine heavy whipping cream and maple syrup in a bowl. Whip with an electric mixer until the mixture is thick and resembles whipped cream.
- Once the pudding is firm and ready to serve, place a dollop of whipped cream on top and enjoy.
