Green Beans with Slivered Almonds

Green beans with onions and slivered almonds are the perfect match to any entrée. The nutty flavor of almonds mixed with the freshness of green beans is such a great combination.

Ingredients:
  • 16 oz French green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 shallot, diced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • ¼ cup slivered almonds
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
  1. Bring a large pot of water to boil and blanch green beans for 4 minutes.  Remove from water and cool.
  2. Meanwhile, melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.  Add almonds and cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Add shallots and garlic and sauté an additional 2 minutes. 
  3. Using tongs transfer green beans directly into the skillet and toss to coat with almond mixture.  Salt and pepper to taste.
